Thankful

Hi blog buddies! I made this thank you card for a sweet lady that my husband works with. She gave him a ride home a few times this week and i thought what a perfect reason to make a card!!

My design inspiration was from the sketch at the Flutter by Wednesday challenge. I was really sad to read this was their last challenge. I am sure they will be missed.
I used my  Best of 2006 Cricut cartridge  for the Thank you. All the paper is by Simply Delightful. I got to use my little Tim Holtz tool to distress the edges of the paper, my Martha Stewart butterfly punch and I embossed the light pink paper with a floral pattern from Darice. I also plan on entering this card in to the following challenges:

Butterfly kisses

Happy Tuesday blog buddies!

My wonderful BFF Jessica gave me an awesome spreed sheet listing all of the challenges that she likes to enter. I have been stopping by the sites just checking things out and I came across this amazing challenge! Flutter by Wednesday's weekly challenge is to create a card with an uplifting sentiment and of course butterflies or fairies. The best part of this challenge is that its actually a card drive for an organization called Butterfly Kisses. I visited the website and read what Nancy, a design team member at Flutter By wrote. This wonderful nonprofit organization was started by two North Carolina teenagers! They deliver care packages to children with cancer and other terminal illness. This really touch my heart and my 15 yr daughters too. My daughter has decided to spend some of her Spring Break helping me make as many cards as we can to send to them. I really encourage all of you to visit the the website to learn more about it. I have seen so many talented women making beautiful cards. Lets all send a few of our amazing cards and brighten a child's day!

Hugs!

My Cricut story

I am sharing my first Cricut experience for the challenge over at My Cricut Craft Room.

It all started with an infomercial. When my daughter was around 3 or 4 she would come into my bedroom Saturday mornings, turn on the TV and watch infomercials while I told her “please give mommy a few more minutes”. She would basically memorize these commercials and tell us why we needed these products. Of all the commercials that she watched the only two that really stuck with her were the Bullet (that blender thing) and the Cricut. I really couldn’t justify spending that much on a machine that I didn’t think I would really use. Let’s fast forward 10 years or so….My BFF Jessica’s lovely hubby bought her a Cricut for Christmas a year ago. We were over at her house checking it out and I was IN LOVE! I even remember the first thing that I made. It was a little pink pig (my daughter shows sheep and pigs in 4H). I have been green with envy ever since. Now a few months ago, when Jessica held my hand and showed me the magical world of paper crafting, I was even more determined to purchase one of these delightful machines. This is where my dear hubby comes into play. He would listen to me rave about the Cricut every time I came home from my BFF’s house. I would show him the amazing projects I could make with it. So last Valentines Day he called my BFF and got all the info he needed to buy my Cricut! They both did a really great job of hiding it from me. Not only did he get me my Cricut he bought me a few cartridges (yes I have an amazing hubby). Now my daughter and I both use it almost daily. Besides from all the amazing things it will do, it has brought my 15 year old and I together. You know how hard it is to please a 15 year old girl, but she loves making cards. So there is my Cricut story. Hope you enjoyed reading it.

Hugs!!

Awsome day with my BFF

Hi all
I had another amazing day with my BFF Jessica! Not only did we have some serious crafty time I transformed Jessica into a RED HEAD (I hope she post the pics)! I also tried some cool new techniques that i saw in a magazine.

I used glossy photo paper and dropped alcohol ink on to it. I just used primary colors. I placed the drops fairly close to each other and they SPREAD QUICKLY! I tried when the colors were still wet and when they we almost dry. I like the results when the ink was almost dry because it didn't spread so much and look so dark. Hope this was helpful and inspires you guys to try it!
I had Jessica laughing at me because I swear I see Alford Hitchcock in the pic!

Thanks for taking the time to read! Have a wonderful day!

My Easter Egg

This is a card that I made for the Erica's Craft Room Challenge.  I used colored pencils for the MelJen bunnies. The butterflies are from a  Martha Stewart punch.  The glitter paper is dcwv and the other paper is from Recollections.  This was a super fun challenge...it put me in the Easter mood!

This is the sketch at Erica's challenge

Thanks again for readin!

Another Card . . . I am on a roll!

For this next card I was inspired by the current challenge at The Creative Cutter Room - Strolling through the Park Blog Hop and required elements challenge.

This card was made using blue card stock for base.  The sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Designs.  The pattern paper is from the Recollections.  I used a floral/swirl embossing folder and some Darice Teddy Bear brown ink.   I used colored pencils to create my rainbow.  The charm is from my stash.   I used a gold glitter glue around the edge of the sentiment panel...it doesn't show up too well in the pic.
Thanks for visiting!

Hi everyone. First of all I would like to thank you guys for being my first followers. You really don't know how much it means to me. Jessica told me how special each of you are...now I understand!

This card was inspired by the challenge at Made Especially for You - 3 Buttons.

The flowered and striped paper is the Paper Studio. The yellow paper is Recollections. I used a ribbon I found at my mothers house from a old hair clip of mine (yes this ribbon is 30 years old! Lets call it vintage! ) The paper flowers are from delights.
